In Lamoura and Les Rousses ski resort, skiing is king in winter

Many activities that you can indulge in are offered at the Domaine des Rousses. Especially in winter, you can ski, telemark or snowboard the many pistes serviced by nearly 40 lifts between Lamoura, Prémanon, Bois d’Amont and Les Rousses. The region is particularly renowned for its many kilometers of cross-country ski trails where you can also try biathlon, the flagship sport in the Jura… Also enjoy the many nature trails for your snowshoeing.

Every winter, the lake of the village of Lamoura is the starting point of the famous cross-country ski race: the Transjurassienne which connects Lamoura to Mouthe for 76 km.

Many activities in summer in Lamoura

In summer, you can swim in Lake Lamoura, the highest altitude lake in the Jura, and participate in many water activities by canoe, sail or pedal boat.
Find freshness and thrills in the waterfalls by trying canyonning, climbing and via ferrata. The ski slopes of the winter are transformed into summer tracks for mountain biking and paths for hiking.

A few kilometers from Lamoura, in the vicinity of the village of Les Rousses, for fans of golf, 2 courses are available to you: Golf du Rochat and Golf du Mont St Jean.

Cheese, the other Jurassic gastronomic heritage

In the heart of the Haut-Jura mountains, le Fort des Rousses, the second largest fortress in France, is home to the largest cellar for ripening Jura cheeses (Comté, Morbier, Mont d’Or, etc.). It is an exceptional place with its 50 000m ² of vaulted rooms filled by nearly 100 000 millstones of Comté.

Cultural activities in Lamoura

The village of Lamoura houses a museum: la Maison du Lapidaire which traces the history of stonecutters in the Haut-Jura region, an activity formerly carried out by the peasants for jewelry.

When you stay at the Hotel les Arobiers in Lamoura, do not miss a truly unusual museum a few kilometers away in the village of Prémanon: L’Espace des Mondes Polaires Paul-Emile Victor . You will then be transported on the pack ice with polar bears, penguins, a giant refrigerator to better understand the wide spaces of the poles.
